Red paint on rock carvings is being phased out in Norway.

Norway’s Directorate for Cultural Heritage is ending the practice of painting rock carvings red and are now removing older paint at some sites. The aim is to give visitors a more authentic view of ancient rock art – even if the figures become harder to see.
